Trails & Trilliums is a weekend-long naturalist rally presented by the Friends of South Cumberland State Parks (Join the Friends). Held at the historic Beersheba Springs Assembly in Beersheba Springs, Tennessee, the festival brings together nature enthusiasts, hikers, and lifelong learners for a rich celebration of the Cumberland Plateau. Over the weekend of April 10th - 12th, enjoy a full slate of guided hikes and walks, expert-led presentations, hands-on workshops, exhibits, and the always-popular native plant sale.
2026 Festival Highlights
Keynote Speaker
We are thrilled to welcome biologist and two-time Pulitzer Prize–nominated author David Haskell as our keynote speaker. This year’s theme, “JOIN THE REVOLUTION,” is inspired by Haskell’s forthcoming book How Flowers Made Our World: The Story of Nature’s Revolutionaries. Join us for a buffet lunch at 12:15pm on Saturday in Smith Hall and hear his talk.
Expanded Old-Growth Hikes
Due to strong interest, we are increasing the number of guided hikes into the old-growth forest in Savage Gulf, offering this challenging hike several times throughout the weekend.
Note: This is a strenuous hike suitable only for experienced hikers.
Meals Included in Ticket Prices
To make sure nobody misses a meal, we've included all meals in the ticket prices: breakfast on Saturday & Sunday, lunch on Friday, Saturday, & Sunday, and dinner at the Hootenanny on Friday & Wine & Wildflowers on Saturday. The ticket prices you'll see when you register reflect last year's program prices plus the cost of meals provided by BSA. If you've got a name tag, you've got a meal! (Exception: Student Program Only Pass)
Friday Night: Hootenanny Dinner & Dancing
Friday night gets even livelier this year with Cumberland Community Dance providing live Appalachian music and calling for square and contra dancing after the Hootenanny dinner.
Saturday Panel Sessions
Friends of South Cumberland Parks (FSC) has secured a grant through the Open Space Institute’s Appalachian Landscapes Project Catalyst Grant program. The work will involve developing a climate-informed conservation plan for identifying priorities for land protection on the South Cumberland Plateau, an area that includes the state parks that FSC supports. Two related panel sessions on Saturday set the stage for the work to come. For more information about the grant and about the Saturday panels, visit Saturday Panels.
Saturday Night: Wine & Wildflowers
On Saturday evening, gather at the Big Red Barn for Wine & Wildflowers, featuring happy hour, dinner, music, and a festive reception.
