Wildlife Programs

Picture
The Friends of South Cumberland offer educational wildlife programs to area children through school classes, scouting and community events.

Margaret Matens has been a TWRA permitted wildlife rehabilitator and educator for over 20 years. A retired schoolteacher and administrator, she runs a nature program at Camp Nakanawa, near Crossville, in the summer.  With the help of Friends' volunteers, she provides hands-on wildlife programs, using her menagerie of kid-friendly turtles, snakes, beetles, possums and other critters.  A longtime supporter and past board member of the Friends, Margaret now serves on the Education Committee of the FSC. For information about scheduling a wildlife program, contact Margaret here.
