Plan Your Visit

Start here to plan your visit to the South Cumberland State Park, totaling nearly 31,000 acres, spread across ten separate tracts, spanning four Tennessee counties.  SCSP is home to Savage Gulf, Stone Door and the nationally-ranked Fiery Gizzard Trail.  Tennessee's second-largest state park has twelve major waterfalls, dozens of amazing overlooks, and, at 500+ acres, one of the best and largest examples of mixed mesophytic old-growth forest in the Eastern United States.

Use the links below to learn about the park, its trails and campgrounds, area accommodations, services, and local points of interest.
(Links will each open in a new tab or window, so you can easily get back to this page to explore other topics.)

Before you head out into the park, know today's sunset time!

South Cumberland State Park is on Central Time.  Before you begin, make sure you are aware of today’s sunset time.  As you explore the park's trails, be aware of how long it has taken you to hike in, and allow at least an equal amount of time to hike out.  Our shaded gorges, gulfs and coves get dark before our mountaintop and plateau areas!  Here are the local sunset times for each month of the year at South Cumberland State Park:

(CST = Central Standard Time; CDT = Central Daylight Time)
January    4:40 (CST)
February    5:10 (CST)
March        6:44 (CDT)
April        7:04 (CDT)
May        7:29 (CDT)
June        8:01 (CDT)
July        7:46 (CDT)
August    7:10 (CDT)
September    6:27 (CDT)
October    5:48 (CDT)
November    4:30 (CST)
December    4:29 (CST)
